In my recent Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA) webinar, “Strategies for Avoiding Medicare and Medicaid Fraud in 30 Minutes Webinar,” I discuss Medicare/Medicaid fraud (unintentional or otherwise), overbilling, “upcoding” (CPT codes), as well as the government’s current investigative/prosecutorial priorities, such as the Department of Justice’s crackdown on illicit telemedicine businesses. Robert Peabody
A former prosecutor, Robert “Bob” Peabody is a staunch defender of healthcare providers facing government scrutiny. He represents companies and management in healthcare, securities, tax, labor and corporate fraud matters. Bob has represented pharmaceutical and other healthcare professionals in investigations of illegal kickbacks, off-label marketing, Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act before state and federal regulators. He has also handled complaints before the Commonwealth’s Board of Registration in Medicine. While much of Bob’s practice is focused on healthcare sector clients, he also handles a range of financial and commercial fraud matters investigated by the Departments of Justice, Treasury, and Health and Human Services, as well as the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
