With the mid-year mark upon us, we’ve taken a step back to assess activity in our group. We’re pleased to share several exciting developments in 2014 specifically related to our Healthcare, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals industry team.

Since Jan. 1, 2014, we have welcomed 11 new attorneys to our Healthcare, Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals team.

  • In April, Ed Barker came aboard. For more than 25 years, Ed served as chief legal officer of Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, a four-state nonprofit healthcare organization. Ed brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by large healthcare organizations today.
  • On June 30, six attorneys who focus on post-acute care matters join us in Denver and Phoenix. This fine team, which formerly practiced as Miles & Peters, broadens the geographic reach of our group and brings additional strength to our post-acute care team.

Husch Blackwell is a national leader in healthcare law.

  • In May, David Hilgers received nationwide acclaim in Chambers USA 2014 in the area of Healthcare: Regulatory & Litigation, and the firm’s Texas healthcare team received special recognition. A client told Chambers this about our healthcare practice: “The firm is different because of the level of expertise and attention to detail.”
  • Early this month, Husch Blackwell’s healthcare practice was named the fifth largest in the country by the American Health Lawyers Association. Today, Modern Healthcare ranked us No. 12 on its list of largest healthcare law firms.

It has been an exciting year for our Healthcare group and we look forward to further opportunities and growth for the remainder of 2014.
